Vinted Shoppers Share Frustration Regarding Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
